Psalm 1, David states: “I delight in your law, God; I meditate on it day and night.”
With food, we eat and over the next hours our body digests it, breaks it down. In a short amount of time, this food provides nourishment and strength for our bodies.
So it is with the Word of God. We might not spend much time reading the Word, but this meditation part is essential. We must digest the Word, meditate on it and allow it to permeate our being.
Without this meditation, we can read scripture all we want, but it will never enrich our lives. We actually lose what we think we have.
Luke 8: Jesus teaches about the sowing of seed on various soil conditions. The disciples are confused as to the exact meaning of Jesus’ parable. They ask him to explain. He replied: “You are permitted to understand the secrets of the Kingdom, but the other people are explained in this scripture: ‘When they look, they won’t really see. When they hear, they won’t actually understand.’” Jesus ends his explanation with “Pay attention to how you hear my Word; to those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given. But for those who are not listening, even what they think they understand will be taken away from them.”
Let the Word seep into your soul. Meditate on it, ruminate and think deeply on it.
It is of vital importance to take this Word into our hearts and make it a part of our being. As we meditate, His word changes us from the inside out.
Ps 63:6 “I lie awake thinking of you, meditating on you through the night.”
119:23-24, 97, 99 “When people speak against me, I will meditate on your decrees. Your laws please me; they give me wise advice.
I love your instructions; I think about them all day long. I have more insight than my teachers, for I am always thinking of your laws.”
19:14 “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.”

Start meditating on God’s Word.
I have found that when I binge read/watch, my thoughts are filled with stuff from the movie or book that I’m feeding on. It’s never worth it. I’m always left feeling out of sorts and empty.
But God’s Word is filling. It gives life, hope, encouragement and instruction.
Begin a habit of meditating on God’s word. Start with 1 verse per day. Write it down, read it often throughout the day and think about it.
Meditate on the Word.
This is grassroots level change.
