The Sovereignty of God and Human Choice. Do they Co-exist? Part #1

Human Free Will.
God bestowed to humankind one thing he didn’t give to any other of his creation. He gave us freedom of choice. Free will. The ability to reason and choose.

Each of us chooses his own destiny.
God has a beautiful purpose for your life, but he gives each person the option of walking in that purpose or not.

Even before conception, God has a purpose for you.
Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you. Jeramiah 1:5a

We’ve been created to live abundantly; to thrive, to flourish. Even as infants, God knows what a beautiful human we can become. He knows our potential. That tiny flame of life within us absolutely thrills Him.
Why then is so much of the world living in abuse, pain, depression, fear, anger and hopelessness?
Why don’t we see this flourishing, this thriving in humanity?

Human free-will. Human choice. People choose not to walk in the purpose which God laid out.

The thief [Satan] does not come except to steal, to kill and to destroy. I am come that they might have life and have it more abundantly. John 10:10

You look around, read the news and observe the general populace, this is exactly what we see. Death. Destruction. Fear. Satan steals joy, peace, hope. He destroys peoples and nations. He destroys marriages, families, kids. He destroys lives. It’s his purpose.
Jesus has come that we might live abundant lives.

He has given us all the tools we need to live abundantly. And He gives us the choice of whether we’ll make use of these tools or not.

Abundant living is not dictated by circumstances. It comes about through choice. Understand this! One can be in dire circumstances, yet still live in abundant peace, joy and hope.
On the flip side, one can also have ‘everything’, yet have nothing.

Abundant life has little or nothing to do with circumstances. It comes through making use of the tools that God has given us.

Abundant-living tools at our disposal: To love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind. And to love your neighbor as yourself.

– To know Jesus as Savior, Jesus as Lord.
-Thankfulness.
-Forgiveness. Have you been able to forgive the people in your life who hurt you deeply?
-Align yourself with truth. The truth of who God is. The truth of who you are. The truth of your purpose in this world.
-Healthy, positive community. We are created to thrive in a village. We need people. We need each other.

In the next article, we will dig into this question once again, but in conclusion for today:
The Sovereignty of God and Human Choice: Do They Co-exist?
Yes, they do.
God is supreme. He sees and knows all things.
Humans choose their own destinies. We have the option of abundant life or complete destruction. Either way, God is not disoriented. As long as there is life within a body, He works tirelessly to bring a person into that path of abundant living.
