Perspective

Perspective: a way of regarding situations, facts, etc, and judging their relative importance.
Point of view or the ability to see it.
The appearance of something in relation to other things.
Synonyms: angle, attitude, mindset, frame of reference or viewpoint

Your perspective has very little to do with circumstances and everything to do with how you think. Your viewpoint. Your belief.
What you believe about God.
What you believe about yourself.

Your eye is like a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is filled with light. But when it is unhealthy, your body is filled with darkness.
Make sure that the light you think you have is not actually darkness. If you are filled with light, with no dark corners, then your whole life will be radiant, as though a floodlight were filling you with light.

Luke 11:34-36

This passage gets me super excited and this is why:

It has little to do with our two physical eyes, but that “eye” is the way we see things. The way we view life – perspective. The lens through which we process everything can be healthy or unhealthy.
If you have a healthy “eye” (perspective on life) with no dark corners, then your whole life will be radiant, as though a floodlight were filling you with light! You’ll actually glow!
However, if your “eye”- your perspective is unhealthy (think: bitterness, unforgiveness, anger, unprocessed trauma, blame, shame, fear, anxiety, soul wounds) you are actually filled with darkness.
Thus, the warning: Make sure that the light you think you have is not actually darkness.

And how do we know what darkness is?
By knowing the truth.

Knowing the truth will set you free.
Free from faulty, debilitating mindsets.
Free from addictions.
Did you know addiction is rooted in a faulty mindset? A thought process built on lies.

When we abide in the WORD, when we know the truth of who we are, who God is and what God thinks about us and we begin to align ourselves with that truth, it changes us. Truth transforms.

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you which is good and pleasing and perfect.

Romans 12:2

Get to know truth.
God’s Word is truth. Read and/or listen to the Word constantly. Listen through the Bible continually!
Understand that Holy Spirit in the believer is the Spirit of Truth. (John 16:13)

Be sure that your eye is full of light. Truth.
Make sure that the light you think you have isn’t actually darkness.
Do a quick mental check: what attitudes have recently been roiling around in mind and heart?
Is your perspective full of light and truth, or are there corners of darkness?

We see things not as they are, but as we are.
